Carousel Restoration Process
animals in need of restoration will vary from a
minimal surface repair to a complete take apart and rebuild. Carving
of missing or destroyed parts and rebuilding worn areas may be needed.
Nails, screws or any other metal that was used to repair the animals
over the years will be removed. Once re-assembled, the wood is sealed,
primed and sanded several times in preparation for painting. Animals
are hand painted using artist's oils and metal leafing as needed.
Several coats of varnish are applied for protection.
This is a short description of the restoration
process, a plan for your animal will be detailed for you.
